Meet the Committee...

President Janet Collins
Janet, a dog owner for many years, became involved with the JJDHA through her son and his dog. She has served as a committee member for many years and was a former Vice-President.
Janet trains club members in Obedience, Agility and Good Citizen Dog Scheme Awards. Both Janet and her son Stuart are familiar faces at Island Agility & Obedience events and in the past have achieved great success.
Under Janet’s guidance the Club was honoured this year when they were invited by the Kennel Club to be the first Channel Island club to take a team to Crufts to demonstrate the Bronze GCDSA.
The only time Janet tries the art of show handling is at the Easter Match. Why does she do it? “To join in the spirit of the weekend and to give everyone a laugh!”

Vice President Sue Blake
Sue became involved with JJDHA through her son whilst he was training, and became an assistant trainer in another class. She now trains club members in Obedience, Puppy Foundation Scheme plus the Good Citizen Dog Scheme.
She was privileged to be part of the team chosen for the bronze GCDSA display at Crufts, which she says was a "truly amazing experience".
Sue is a regular competitor in Obedience Competitions and after taking a few years out has recently re-started training in agility.
She believes it is very important for both handler and dog to enjoy training together, and this can simply be acheived with toys, titbits and happy excited voices.

Secretary Mandy Carney
I have been with club 2 1/2 years and can regularly been seen manning the club whilst my daughter Mia puts our dog Ollie through his paces.
I feel the club has given us both the confidence to bringing up a well mannered dog whilst having a lot of fun along the way. It’s always great to see Mia’s training pay dividends as she adds to her increasing collection of cups and rosette’s
Last year I became Secretary which allows me to give a little back to the club, JJDHA really are a great bunch of people.

Treasurer Louise MacFarlane
Louise has only been a dog owner for the past two years, although she has wanted to be for as long as she can remember. She became involved with the JJDHA shortly after the arrival of her first puppy, a Westie called Maisie.
As a totally inexperienced owner, Louise decided she would need proper training! Both owner and dog now thoroughly enjoy taking part in obedience and agility. Louise believes strongly in the emphasis on having fun with your dog. She says “It makes you both happier and is fun to do things together”. |

Committee Neville Uden
Neville has been working dogs for twenty-seven years in both obedience and agility. He has taken part in and judged agility finals in the UK. He has represented England at the Royal Dublin Show in Ireland in both agility and obedience and was awarded the English Team trophy for four years running. He now takes classes in obedience and runs his own training club in the UK. He is a dedicated member of the Kennel Club UK and also sits on the Good Citizen Dog Scheme Working Party Committee. He has worked his dogs at Crufts in Bronze, Silver and Gold and also taken teams to Crufts and around the UK demonstrating these awards. Neville has been involved with the JJDHA through training and judging for thirteen years and was made a lifetime member of the JJDHA six years ago.

Committee Frances Gilbert
Frances has been a club member for almost four years although she has been a dog owner for as long as she can remember. She currently has 4 Tibetan Spaniels and is very successful in the Show Ring, particularly with Kara, who quite often wins best of breed.
She has taken part in obedience training with other clubs but JJDHA has enabled Frances to brush up her Show Handling skills and attempt Agility which her dogs thoroughly enjoy.

Committee Lucy Johnson
As a family Lucy has always had dogs and become involved with the JJDHA when her children Elizabeth and William had dogs of their own. Lucy felt it was important for them to learn how to look after and train their own dogs. Both children, especially William, have had a lot of fun and learnt a lot with the club but the highlight must certainly be when William took part in the Good Citizen demonstration at Crufts. |

Committee Angela Hughes
Angela came to the club seven years ago as a novice dog owner. She has served on the committee and was last year nominated for vice-president.
She takes part in all 3 disciplines of Show handling, Agility & Obedience and in her own words is" Jack of all trades, Master of none". She firmly believes that it is the taking part that counts and having fun with your dog is what the JJDHA is all about.
